Why you should swaddle your baby:
Lots of new parents are discovering the benefits of swaddling their baby. Here are some of the positive reasons you should consider using swaddle blankets.
- Calm – Deep pressure calms babies which is why swaddled babies cry significantly less. Swaddling is an excellent help to calm a colicky baby.
- Sleep – Overwhelming evidence shows that babies who are swaddled sleep better and for longer. Swaddling inhibits the immature startle reflex, which can disrupt a baby's sleep.
- Feeding –Babies who are difficult to feed, particularly those prone to fighting at the breast, tend to be better feeders with more coordinated sucks and swallows when they are swaddled (Journal of Human Lactation, 2001)
